This laid back jewel in the central Bahamas has picturesque beaches, extensive creek systems and plenty of fun restaurants and bars to visit. Cat island is a great place to combine a family vacation with some DIY fishing, but it is also suitable for hardcore diy anglers.
Untainted and unspoiled, there is much to be discovered on Cat Island. Named after the infamous pirate, Arthur Catt, the island runs deep with history and culture. Its 150 square miles of natural landscape offer every traveler a rich Bahamian experience. You’ll find the plot of land where Sir Sidney Poitier’s boyhood home once stood. You’ll also discover the birthplace of The Bahamas’ indigenous rake and scrape music, along with numerous myths and folklore that still hold a place in Bahamian culture today.
Located on Cat Island, Mt. Alvernia has the highest elevation in the Bahamas, at 206 feet above sea level. On the hill sits The Hermitage, a medieval monastery hand carved by Father Jerome out of rock, along with the steps leading up to it.
Guests stay at the Orange Creek Inn, a locally owned motel within sight of a gorgeous beach and productive bonefish flats! The flats and mangroves of Orange creek are a great place to fish for tailers in the morning and evening, as well as stalking bonefish during high sun.

The conmfortable and clean Orange Creek Inn has air conditioning, wi-fi, satellite tv, and excellent cellphone coverage! Next door is the best grocery store on the island, where you can buy food for your meals. All rooms have small kitchenettes where you can cook & keep your beer cold. Dining out at one of the local restaurants is also an option. Kayak rentals are available.
A great island for exploring, Cat offers DIY anglers many extensive creek systems to fish. Orange Creek, Bennetts Creek, Musgrove Creek, Fernandez Bay Creek, Armbrister & Frankfort Creeks are just some of the areas anglers can fish. There are also countless bays and beaches to fish along both sides of the island, where anglers can hunt bones, jacks, snapper, barracuda and the occasional tarpon. And if you'd like to try bluewater fishing for a day, there are good options as well.

Weekly Rate: $1155.00/pp based on two anglers
$2110.00/pp for single anglers
DIY Prices are per person based upon double or single occupancy as stated. Rates include oceanfront accommodations within walking distance to bonefish flats, government room tax, rental truck, maps of the island, and informational package on DIY Fishing on Cat Island. Food, water & snacks can be purchased at the grocery store within walking distance. Guests can cook their own meals or dine out at one of several nearby restaurants. *Our information is designed to get you fishing in productive areas immediately, hastening the learning curve all anglers must go thru when fishing a new, unknown destination without guides. Guided bonefishing or bluewater fishing can be arranged.
Terms and Conditions
A deposit of 50% is required within 15 days of booking to confirm a reservation. The balance is due 90 days prior to arrival. Deposit is refundable, less a $100 per person processing fee, if written cancellation is received at least 90 days prior to the trip. A 50% refund will be made to client if written cancellation is received 31-89 days prior to the trip, and no refund will be made if written cancellation is received 30 days or less prior to the trip, unless a substitute angler is found, in which case a full refund will be made less a $100 processing fee. In rare instances with cancellations inside of 90 days, we are able to issue credit to be used for a future trip to the same lodge. In this instance, there is a $200 per person processing fee. Credits are issued at the sole discretion of Cattaraugus Creek Outfitters LLC/CCO Fly Fishing LLC/Bahamas Bonefishing Adventures LLC. Receipt of deposit is acknowledgment that registrant has read and accepts the cancellation/refund and responsibility clauses.
Because many deposits and final payments for trip packages may be non-refundable (see above,) it is highly recommended that you purchase trip insurance in the event that you have to cancel, postpone or reschedule your trip for any reason. This is the only way that we can assist you with compensation for a cancelled trip. Cattaraugus Creek Outfitters LLC/CCO Fly Fishing LLC/Bahamas Bonefishing Adventures LLC acts only as agents for contractors or owners and outfitters, airlines, charter air, and ground transportation carriers or other services. Payment of funds for fishing and other Cattaraugus Creek Outfitters trips shall be deemed acceptance and consent of the following conditions. Cattaraugus Creek Outfitters LLC/CCO Fly Fishing LLC/Bahamas Bonefishing Adventures LLC or any of its affiliates or associated companies shall not be held liable for any loss or damages howsoever caused or arising from services provided by hotels or lodges, outfitters, guides, means of transportation or other services. Baggage and personal effects are the sole responsibility of the traveling client at all times.
